Ming-Cheng Hsieh was born in Taipei and now lives in Hualien. He graduated from the Department of Law, National Dong Hwa University. The main subject of Hsieh’s photography was himself. Recently, he has gradually started taking more photos of others. He questions the documentary nature of photography, preferring images lying between the concrete and the abstract, realism and fiction. He regards images as materials for constructing one’s own world, since one can most easily find oneself in group photos, no matter if the camera’s lens is toward oneself, others, or objects.
