The first international photography festival named after Taiwan
The inaugural Taiwan International Photography Festival (TIPF) is a month-long event featuring thematic exhibitions, a photography summit, and public events. This biennial festival invites major art institutions and professionals from Taiwan and around the world to participate. TIPF fosters cross-cultural dialogue and promotes the democratization of art, enabling more people to gain a deeper understanding of both photography and Taiwan.
TIPF 2025: Democratic Camera
The inaugural TIPF, themed “Democratic Camera,” invites everyone to explore the landscape where photography, art, and democracy intersect. It encourages reflection on how photography can serve as a medium for communication, memory, preservation, and imagination.
Lightbox Photo Library
Founded in 2016, Lightbox Photo Library is a non-profit organization based in Taiwan that is free and open to everyone. We utilize the library as a method to preserve, research and promote photographic art and publications from Taiwan.
Lightbox collaborates with the community to co-create a more open and equitable environment for photography, encouraging everyone to take part in the conversation in order to develop a complex view and nuanced understanding of photography, art and reality.
